Privacy policy

1. About this policy

This policy explains how the Notenity iOS app handles information and what happens if you contact us. “Dreamsnity”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the developer providing Notenity under the Dreamsnity brand. The app provider is identified on the relevant App Store listing. Other Dreamsnity apps and the website have separate privacy information. If you visit Dreamsnity.com, its website privacy policy covers that visit and its optional website analytics; this does not add analytics to the Notenity app.

Notenity has no app account, Dreamsnity cloud notebook or automatic notebook sync service. Ordinary use of the app does not send your notebook to us. Contact us at dreamsnity@gmail.com with the subject “Notenity privacy”.

2. Your notebook and on-device processing

Your notes, titles, formatting, tables, drawings, imported files and photos, voice recordings, transcripts, timestamps, settings and any location labels you choose to add are stored in app-managed storage on your device. Local recovery copies and transcript drafts may also be stored there.

Speech transcription uses a model included with the app and processes audio on your device. Handwriting recognition also runs on the device. Supported Private Intelligence features use Apple’s on-device system model when available; Notenity has no cloud AI fallback and does not send your content to Dreamsnity for processing or model training. Availability depends on your device, operating system, language and Apple’s model availability. Apple may need to provision its system model separately.

Notenity has no advertising or cross-app tracking and includes no third-party advertising or analytics SDK. Apple separately operates App Store distribution, payments and operating-system services. Sales and download reports may be available to Dreamsnity through App Store Connect. Apple may also provide usage or diagnostic reports according to your sharing choices and its reporting rules. These reports do not give Dreamsnity remote access to your notebook. Apple explains its processing and sharing controls in its own privacy information.

3. Permissions you control

Microphone: recording begins when you choose to record and grant permission. Camera: used when you choose to take a photo for a note. Photos and files: the system picker gives the app the items you select, without granting access to your entire photo library.

Location: optional coordinates are used when you request a location or enable the relevant note setting. Notenity does not track location in the background. Suggested place labels are matched against a bundled reference list on your device; the app does not send coordinates to a reverse-geocoding service.

Notifications: reminders you create are stored locally and scheduled through iOS. Reminder titles may appear on the lock screen according to your notification settings. Calendar: an event you choose to create opens in Apple’s system editor for your review. Older iOS versions may request calendar access and contact-display permission for that editor. Notenity does not upload your contacts to Dreamsnity.

You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Turning off a permission stops the related access but does not erase content you have already saved.

4. Information you choose to email us

The app does not give Dreamsnity access to your notebook. If you email dreamsnity@gmail.com, however, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to answer your question, troubleshoot the issue and manage the related correspondence. Gmail processes these messages as our email provider.

Only send the information needed to explain your request. Please redact private notes and avoid sending a full notebook, recordings, passwords or payment details. Support correspondence is separate from the content stored inside Notenity.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, handling a request about your purchase or app support may be necessary to provide the requested service. Our legitimate interests in answering other enquiries, investigating faults and protecting our services may also apply, subject to your rights. We may retain or disclose correspondence when required by law. We do not use a support request as permission to send marketing emails.

5. Sharing and external services

Notenity does not automatically upload your notebook to a Dreamsnity server. You can choose to export a page or notebook backup containing recordings and other attachments, share an exported file, copy text, open a link or create a calendar event. The destination you select may be another app, a recipient, iCloud Drive or another file or calendar provider. Those copies and services are controlled by their own settings and privacy practices.

Your keyboard and operating-system services also operate under their own settings. App Store distribution and payments are handled by Apple; Dreamsnity does not receive your payment card details through Notenity.

We do not sell notebook content or use it for advertising. Information you separately send to support is used for the requested help, handling related disputes or complying with applicable legal duties. Any disclosure of support correspondence must be justified by the relevant purpose or legal requirement. We cannot disclose notebook content that we do not have.

6. Local storage and deletion

You control the notebook on your device. You can edit or delete notes and recordings using the app’s controls. Dreamsnity cannot remotely read, retrieve or delete this content, and there is no Notenity account or server-side notebook to delete.

Deleting the visible note or an attachment does not necessarily remove every local recovery copy. Protected originals, safe-save recovery files, transcript drafts and a previous-restore copy may remain in app-managed storage. Protected originals can retain associated media and audio until you delete those originals. Use Tools → Protected originals to manage them.

To erase the notebook, open Settings → Backup & data, then the storage controls, and choose “Delete all notebook data”. This removes app-managed notes, recordings, imported files, protected originals, transcript drafts and the previous-restore copy, and clears Notenity’s local reminders. App preferences are kept. Calendar events saved through Apple’s system editor must be managed in your calendar. Save any backup you want to retain before confirming deletion.

Copies you exported, shared or saved through another app or provider must be deleted separately from those destinations. An in-app deletion cannot remove a recipient’s copy. Local recovery copies are not a Dreamsnity cloud backup.

If you contacted support, you can email us to request deletion of that correspondence. We retain support messages only as needed to handle the request and related follow-up, resolve disputes or meet applicable legal obligations. A support-email request does not require sending us your notebook.

If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal information to our support mailbox, contact us so we can review the correspondence and any applicable deletion request. We do not need a copy of the child’s local notebook to handle that request.

7. Device security and backups

Notenity uses iOS app storage and file-protection controls. Keep your device secure with a passcode and current software. Notenity is not a separately password-encrypted vault, and exported notebook backups are not password-encrypted by the app. Protect exported files and choose their destinations carefully.

The app marks its managed notebook storage to be excluded from automatic operating-system backup. Do not rely on iCloud or a device backup to preserve your notebook. Create and verify an export before changing devices, deleting data or uninstalling the app. Dreamsnity does not keep a recovery copy for you.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and deletion does not promise forensic overwriting of device storage. Gmail and any external destination you select may process information in other countries. Their locations and safeguards depend on the service and its terms. Where Dreamsnity is responsible for a restricted international transfer of personal information, the applicable legal requirements for that transfer apply. Contact us for information about processing of correspondence you have sent to us.

8. Your control and privacy rights

For notebook content, you exercise control directly on your device: view and correct your notes, export a copy, delete content and change permissions using Notenity and iOS. We do not hold a server copy of your notebook and cannot access or erase it through an email request.

If you have separately provided personal information to Dreamsnity, for example in a support email, applicable law may give you rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of that information, object to or restrict its use, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. To ask about that information, email dreamsnity@gmail.com. We may request only the information reasonably needed to verify and handle your request. Applicable response deadlines and lawful exceptions apply. You may also complain to the relevant data protection authority.

Changing permissions or withdrawing consent does not undo processing that was lawful before the change. You do not need to email Dreamsnity to manage locally stored notebook content.

9. Policy updates

We will update this page when Notenity’s privacy practices change and show the effective date of the revised policy. Where required, we will give additional notice or obtain consent before new processing begins. A policy change does not by itself authorize a new use of information already provided.
